Artwork Guidelines

Preferred File method for submitting label artwork Adobe .PDF

PREFERRED FILE:

The easiest way to submit a file for printing custom digital labels is to create a Print Ready .PDF file. We suggest a minimum of 300dpi, and all fonts outlined AND embedded.

Digital Printed Labels require the file to be converted to CMYK color space. It is important for you the customer to do this on your end so you have a realistic idea of what your job will print like. This allows the opportunity to make color adjustments that we would be unable to do on press.

Flexographic Printed Labels can be printed using both the CMYK color space and/or spot colors where we prefer you specify PMS (Pantone Matching System) colors to match. If your file is set up CMYK, you may be required to convert the file to spot colors. We can print up to 10 spot colors in a single pass. Spot color printing is where each color is printed in its own ink. Spot color printing is generally used when printing 1-3 colors or adding metallic colors as well as adding spot specific ink colors to CMYK work. In contrast CMYK uses only 4 inks to produce all other colors. (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black)

LABELS WITH BLEED (DIE CUT):

Use crop marks to specify your trim area. (Keep all crop marks outside of printed work area) Be sure to include a minimum of 1/8" (0.125") Bleed on all edges of your label design. We prefer a 1/16" safe zone near all edges of your label design, where your design elements are held inside your die line. This ensures no critical text or design elements are cut during the printing and die cutting process.

SQUARE CUT LABELS (NO BLEED):

With custom printed square cut or but cut labels, bleed is not possible. Square cut labels are finished on rolls with no space between labels. This eliminates the possibility to have artwork bleed off the edges of the label. Square Cut labels can be flood coated providing a colored background. In this process a Square Cornered label will have bleed. Otherwise, a minimum 1/16" white edge border will be necessary to print square cut labels.
